CSR at La Vitre

(Corporate Social Responsibility)

🌍 Bringing people closer across the world, yes, but not without responsibility.

At la Vitre, we know that every technological innovation has an impact — on the environment, on people, and on the way we work.

Our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) approach is still a work in progress: we’re not perfect, but we’re moving forward with a strong desire to improve!

Concrete actions are already taking shape — in the way we design our product, choose our partners, and operate day to day.

🌱 What we’re already doing to reduce our environmental impact

Better energy efficiency

  • A full la Vitre bundle (86" screen, PC, microphone, camera, soundbar) consumes around 806 kWh/year in a realistic use case (10 hours/day, 260 days/year).
  • That’s about the same as a dishwasher or a desktop computer running continuously for a year.
  • A discreet mode reduces power consumption by 8 to 10%, and automatic sleep settings for the screen or PC are also available.

Fewer trips, fewer emissions

  • La Vitre allows people to meet remotely, just like they were in the same room — which means fewer business trips, and lower emissions.
  • We use la Vitre ourselves every day to collaborate between our offices (Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Toronto).

A more responsible technology — where possible

  • The stand is manufactured in Lyon (France).
  • The mini-PCs are assembled in Toulouse (France).
  • Some components are 3D-printed on demand to avoid overproduction.
  • We reuse packaging boxes from incoming screens to ship out some Vitres, reducing waste.
  • La Vitre’s peer-to-peer connection eliminates the need for server-side storage, helping to lower the digital footprint.

📦 What we don’t know yet (but we’re working on it)

We don’t yet have a full carbon footprint assessment for bundle with la Vitre — from manufacturing to end-of-life.

Why not? Because a big part of that data depends on what our technical suppliers and partners are able (or willing) to share — and it’s not always available or transparent.

That said, we’re making progress: We’re asking the right questions, working on transport and usage optimizations, and preparing to better manage the product lifecycle, including recycling.

🤝 CSR also means this, for us

Beyond environmental impact, our CSR approach also shapes how we operate as a company:

  • Remote work is encouraged to help maintain work-life balance.
  • Carpooling is promoted for business travel and team events.
  • We regularly welcome interns from diverse backgrounds.
  • Our offices are designed with comfort in mind: quiet zones, chill areas, and collaborative spaces.
  • There’s dust on our printer.
  • And during our annual raclette lunch… absolutely zero food waste 😁

Small actions — but they matter.

We know CSR goes far beyond the energy consumption of a product.

It’s about being consistent, thoughtful, and always improving.

Here’s what we plan to do next:

  • Continue making la Vitre leaner, more durable, and more responsible.
  • Introduce even more CSR best practices into our internal operations by listening to our teams.
  • Better measure, track, and share our impact.
  • Keep communicating openly and honestly with clients and partners — about our progress and our limits.
